Thanksgiving in the US

“Thanksgiving by Hannie Brithén

It is the 24th of November 2011 and I’m in Nixa, Missouri in America. Today, it’s Thanksgiving and during the Thanksgiving day, you are supposed to think about everything that you are thankful for and spend time with the ones that you love.

I’m here, with my host-family. I just made my cheesecake from scratch and now I’m going to work out before we start to eat. I started to think about everything that I am thankful for…

I have my health, amazing friends, two families that love me and supports me, I have school, good grades, two beautiful homes, and me. (…)

I shouldn’t even start to write about my family, they mean so much to me and they know that I love them. I am so thankful for having a family like I do. I was raised so well, I have the best siblings in the world that are always there to support me and help me when I need them. And my parents…
My Mom is my best friend and she understands me in every situation. She is my other half, she can complete my sentences and she knows how I think. My Dad is always there for me. He is this huge part of my foundation that helps me through the hardest parts of my life. I can’t write Love too many times.

My best friends here in America, YOU ARE COMING TO SWEDEN!
And it’ll be the best European experience EVER!
I am so extremely excited that you get to meet all of the amazing people that I know and that they get to meet you guys too. You have helped me so much during these last 4 months and you are the ones that are making this journey so special. I wouldn’t be the person I am here, today, if it wasn’t for you.
All I can say is, FATE.
I am Thankful for everyone around me, every person, every thing.

I am living Now and that is all that counts. I will continue this lifelong journey and never stop believing in myself. I have grown so much these last couple of months. I have learned to appreciate all of the things that most people take for granted. I have an open mind and I learn new things every day. I have fun, I laugh, I feel love and I have new goals that I am on my way to reach. I am changing into a better person for each day that passes by, and that is mostly because I learn from the people that I am around each and every day. You know who you are. You deserve more than the best of everything. You belong to my Family.”
